By a ‘country’ wedding we mean everything from fairytale themed right through to vintage and shabby chic. Just didn’t want you getting confused thinking the article was about some new range of wedding favours suitable for Wild West themed ceremonies. So, sorry if you were expecting that but maybe we’ll do another post on that in the coming weeks. Yeeha!
The key to nailing any of these themes is the detail in the presentation. Lots of jars, twine, milk bottles and other vintage treats are required to ensure they don’t stick out hugely from the rest of the wedding theme. Be creative, hand-making things isn’t corny, it’s actively encouraged as customising, crafting and personalising favours is majorly in fashion.
Food items are the most popular choice for favours. Some sweet ideas are to offer mini trays of popcorn, jars of retro sweets, personlised lollies featuring the initials of the happy couple or chocolate of some description. There is so much inspiration online for this sort of thing if a tasty treat is what you want your guests to takeaway then try to choose something relevant and then consider how to present it.
A little tipple is another sweet choice often made for hipster style weddings. A mini bottle of bubbles shot of your favourite cocktail or spirit is a lovely way of saying ‘ thanks for coming’, which is the point of a favour after all. When served in alice in wonderland style little bottles with corks, or vintage mason jars they are completely irresistible.
The handmade, crafty touches are what really make these pretty, simple weddings memorable so why not channel your inner blue peter presenter and find something you can make your guests. Some cool ideas, that aren’t hugely difficult to make, are photo frames to allow them to have a constant reminder of your special day. Alternatively magnets with the bride and grooms name and photo on them are unique yet don’t require the receiver to do anything other than whack it up on their fridge door, so make them smile every time they pass it.Another option is to give your guests the gift of creating themselves by giving a ‘how to’ kit as their favour. Cute ones are how to grow something, like a plant or vegetable or even a make your own kit to bake some yummy cakes.
Everyone likes to be pampered but within out busy everyday lives no one seems to have the time. Break that mould by supplying your attendees with some products to help them relax. Candles or bubble baths scented with your favourite smells are personal and not a bulky gift that guests will forget to take home. For a personal touch, attach parcel labels with hand written messages to each individual thanking them for their contribution.
For a favour that really gets your guests involvement, you could provide a ‘favour bar’. For example, a little crate or stall that has a few of the options we have suggested above, as we’re guessing you’ll struggle to choose which to give! You could even give them the ability to ‘pimp’ it a little depending on how brave you are, or how much your friends and family drink. By allowing them to choose a gift, it is more likely they will have something they want and will use and enjoy it at home after the big day.
