Are you the parent of a Disney princess diva, a Peppa Pig fanatic or a super hero obsessed son. If so, what better way to celebrate their birthday than with a themed party to transport them into the magical land of their idol.
First you’ll need to send out the invites featuring your child’s chosen theme; fancy dress is of course obligatory. You could make this more fun by asking guests to come as their favourite Disney princess or character from the birthday boy/girls chosen theme! Then you can either keep it subtle with the use of table covers, paper plates and cups or go all out with themed balloons & decorations, lunchboxes, party bags, themed birthday cake and bouncy castles.
Then once the scene has been set for your little princess or pirate why not give the party games a bit of a twist too. There are lots of games you could play, but here are some more unique ideas that we came up with;
- Musical Muddy Puddles – Cut out some puddle shapes using brown paper, enough for each child to stand on at the beginning of the game. Blast out the Peppa Pig tunes and ask the children to run or dance around the puddles whilst an adult removes one of the puddles. When the music stops all the children have to jump in a muddy puddle. The child without a puddle is out of the game and so it continues until a winner is crowned.
- Build Olaf out of marshmallows – This is fun little competition for all the Frozen fans out there. Purchase some giant & mini marshmallows, some matchmakers and some orange, white and black icing. Give each child a little pot of mixed up icing sugar (this acts as a glue) and let the kiddies imaginations run wild as they create their own editable Olaf using the ingredients you’ve supplied.
- Guess the missing song lyrics – Split the party into teams and pop Now Disney on the sound system. Play a few lines of a song then stop the CD. Each team then needs to write down what they think the next line of lyrics are. The team who guesses the most songs correctly wins the game.
- Pin the Crown on the Princess/Eye Patch on Pirate – A twist on the old classic, ‘Pin the tail on the Donkey’ only on this occasion the board in which the children pin onto will be a large print out of one of their favourite characters.
- Set up a Pirate Treasure hunt around the house/garden.
- Disney princess, Drop the Pearl.
